Der Standardscherz über Politiker, mit wenig entwickelter Medienkompetenz, die sich morgens von ihrer Bürokraft “das Internet ausdrucken” lassen ist Legende. Auf eine innovative Art haben ein paar Leute nun mit  “Things Our Friends Have Written On The Interne” eine Zusammenstellung ihrer liebsten Blog posts und Tweets von 23 Freunden kompiliert und davon 1000 Exemplare als Zeitung drucken lassen.

Are there sufficient numbers of offline people left that it’s worth producing a mainstream magazine compiled, like this, from online material? If so, how long until those economics no longer apply?

Gute Frage, ich finde es als Kunstprojekt lustig, bringt es doch das Medium, vor allem bei Tweets wegen einer Zeitung inhärenten Asynchronität ad absurdum. Eine Beschreibung wie es zu der Idee kam auf der Seite von magCulture

The project came about when they found out how cheap and easy it is to print 1000 copies of a newsprint tabloid. They also wanted to draw attention to some longer written pieces that are more easily assimilated in print than online.

A simple idea, beautifully executed, Things Our Friends Have Written on the Internet 2008 takes the online rules and applies them to print – the content has been appropriated without permission, and including all mistakes and typos, but with full credit and relevant links. Just like a blog. It makes for a beguilingly charming mix of content.
